Albania has joined the Three Seas Initiative as an associate member, with President Bajram Begaj calling the move a step toward deeper regional security, integration, and infrastructure development.
Speaking at the Three Seas Initiative summit in Poland, Begaj said Albania’s presence would strengthen the platform’s southeastern flank and enhance cooperation on energy, transport, digital infrastructure, and democratic resilience.
Begaj reaffirmed Albania’s commitment to EU accession, expressing confidence in completing negotiations by 2030. He described Albania as a NATO member and regional contributor linking Southeast Europe to the Euro-Atlantic space.
The Three Seas Initiative connects EU states between the Baltic, Adriatic, and Black Seas, aiming to boost strategic infrastructure and transatlantic coordination.
Begaj said Albania’s inclusion reflected shared values and a firm belief in the initiative’s goals. He held bilateral meetings with other leaders on the sidelines of the summit.
