As Kosovo continues closing Serbian-run institutions deemed illegal by Pristina, Serb List has called on QUINT countries to mediate a compromise on key services, including the Ibër Water Company.
Since early 2024, Kosovo authorities have closed several Serbian-funded facilities, including employment offices, cultural centers, and sports venues in northern municipalities. The latest was the Mitrovica employment office, taken over on May 16.
Serb List leader Zlatan Elek said his party supports dialogue but accused Pristina of refusing talks. He urged the U.S., UK, Germany, France, and Italy to intervene. The party submitted proposals to the U.S. Embassy, including reinstating staff at Ibër Water.
The EU and France have urged both sides to resolve the dispute through the normalization dialogue. Brussels warned that unilateral actions risk tensions and undermine Kosovo’s international image.
The EU repeated its call for implementation of the 2023 normalization agreement, including the creation of a Serbian-majority municipalities association. Kosovo’s government insists it is enforcing rule of law, while Belgrade continues to fund and support parallel structures.
